Biography
Artist Biography - Emma Jackson
Emma’s work is based within a natural theme or setting. Emma seeks out areas, which are relatively untouched in an attempt to capture the ‘essence’ of nature. Emma creativity is founded on a deep curiosity to wander and explore the land, she simply titles her work ‘Wanderlust’. Emma is particularly interested in exploring the wilderness within the Northern European landscape where the clarity of light and extensive forests and lakes are a perfect setting to inspire the creative process.
“I start the creative process by getting outside, walking and exploring, sometimes trespassing searching for unusual and remote areas within the landscape. This could be a deserted slate quarry in the Lake, an ancient woodland in Scotland or island hoping in Finland. It’s important to make an emotional connection with the place before I can start to make art. I will spend a lot of time in one place, taking photographs and making quick sketches. It is essential to capture the ‘sense of place’ before I head back to the studio and start making art”.
